Samsung has unveiled a new member in the Galaxy M series today, the Galaxy M31s. This smartphone comes with an Infinity-O display rather than the Infinity U which its predecessors come with. Other than that there are very slight changes in this smartphone when compared to Galaxy M31. Let’s check out Galaxy M31s Vs Galaxy M31 and see what are the differences between them.
Design and Display: Slight Change
The Galaxy M31s come with a similar design with almost a similar form factor except for the fingerprint sensor which has been moved to the side. The color option is new, you get the gradient thing going on at the back which is a polycarbonate panel. The display is a 6.5 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED panel which gets Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
The Galaxy M31 is just like the stencil for the Galaxy M31s, just that the fingerprint sensor has moved. The rear panel is polycarbonate here too with a glossy finish. The display is 6.5 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED panel which is also protected by the Gorilla Glass 3.
The two major differences between the Galaxy M31 and the M31s is that the rear fingerprint sensor has moved to the side. This makes the smartphone much clear and feels a bit modern as well. The second biggest change is that the Galaxy M31s comes with Infinity O display rather than the Infinity U.
There is no difference between both the Galaxy M31s and the M31 when comes to performance. Both come with the same Exynos 9611 processor which is clocked at 2.3Ghz. Both smartphones come with 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM options for better multitasking.
The smartphones come with up to 128GB of storage except for that the Galaxy M31s lack one RAM/Storage option which M31 has. The storage is UFS 2.1 in both the smartphones and both smartphones come with a dedicated storage expansion slot in the card tray.
Camera: Samsung Vs Sony Sensor
The camera in both the smartphone is not the same, although you get a quad-camera setup at the back which includes a 64MP main sensor. But there is a Samsung sensor is M31 while M31s comes with a Sony sensor.
The second ultrawide sensor has updated from 8MP(Galaxy M31) to a 12MP(Galaxy M31s) sensor. Rest both sensors as same, both got a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro sensor.
Both smartphones come with a 32MP selfie camera except for the appearance of them on the front display panel. The camera is capable of gyro EIS which is available in both smartphones and can record videos up to 4K at 30fps. The front-facing camera is also capable of 4k recording as well.
Software and Battery
Both the smartphones come with OneUI 2.0 based on Android d10 right out of the box. The smartphones come with the same 6000 mAh battery but with a different charging brick in the box. The Galaxy M31 comes with 15W fast charging which has been upgraded to 25W fast charging. Both use USB Type C for charging.
When comes to Galaxy M31s Vs Galaxy M31 pricing, this is a big difference there. Samsung hasn’t unveiled the price of the smartphone yet. To recall, the Galaxy M31 launched at Rs 14,999 for the base variant but it got a price hike due to higher GST rates in India. Now, M31 comes at Rs. 16,499 for the base variant.
On the other hand, Galaxy M31s comes at a starting price of Rs. 19,499, but its base variant comes with 6GB+128GB instead of 6GB+64GB in M31. So, you can see there is a big difference in price because of the new Infinity O display, new camera sensor, better fast charger, and more storage.
