How Do I Save DL, RC, PAN, and Aadhaar on WhatsApp?

Carrying your identity documents virtually is valid and accepted nationwide per the IT Act 2000. If you forgot your DL or RC, you can show your virtual documents and avoid getting a challan. Here’s how to download your Driving Licence or RC on your phone.

Method 1 – Use MyGov HelpDesk Chatbot

One of the easy ways to keep your DL and RC handy for such incidents is to download them directly using the MyGov HelpDesk WhatsApp Chatbot.

1. Start a Chat with the MyGov HelpDesk WhatsApp Chatbot and send Hi. (Click this link to start the chat instantly)

2. Select DigiLocker Services from the menu.

3. Select Yes to log in when asked whether you have a DigiLocker account. If you don’t have one, tap No to create your DigiLocker account.

4. Now, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar card number to proceed and complete the OTP verification.

5. Type the corresponding number of the document you want to download. If you wish to download any other document, tap the issue button and follow the process.

Your selected document will be ready to download from the WhatsApp chatbot.

Method 2 – Use Google File DigiLocker Integration

The DigiLocker WhatsApp bot server usually runs at its capacity, as, at times, it works for some people, and for some users, it does not work at all. You can link your DigiLocker account with the Google Files app if the bot does not work. Check out our detailed guide to link DigiLocker to the Google Files app on Android.

Method 3 – NextGen mParivahan App

Another way to access your Driving Licence and Registration Certificate on your phone is via the mParivahan app. It is the official app from the Ministry of Electronics & Information (MeitY). Here’s how to download and access your DL and RC anytime on your phone.

1. Download the NextGen mParivahan app (Andriod, iOS) on your phone.

2. Login to your account using the MPIN or sign up to create a new account if you don’t have one.

3. Once on the Dashboard, tap on My Virtual RC and My Virtual DL to add your documents to the app.

4. Fill in the required details and verify with the OTP.

5. After OTP verification, your document will appear in the app.

Method 4 – Use the DigiLocker App

Lastly, you can use the official DigiLocker app on your phone to access all your documents on the go. The digital copies of your documents stored in DigiLocker are valid and accepted nationwide, per the IT Act, 2000. Here’s how to access your documents.

1. Download the DigiLocker app (Android, iOS) on your phone.

2. Login to your existing account or tap Create Account if you don’t have one.

3. Once logged in, you will see all your documents added to your DigiLocker account.

4. To add a new document, switch to the Search tab and search the document you want to add to your DigiLocker account.

Wrapping Up

So this is how you can download and save your Driving Licence, RC, and other important documents on your phone and avoid getting a challan. While most people will prefer the WhatsApp chatbot, it doesn’t respond most of the time due to server load. You can use the other alternatives mentioned above.
