Yuphoria has been designed to obliterate competition in Indian budget android market. The smartphone has been launched for 6,999 INR, which is same as Xiaomi Redmi 2, coming from China’s largest smartphone retailer, world renowned for quality low cost handsets. Let’s stack them against each other.

Display and Processor
Yuphoria has a slightly larger 5 Inch display as compared to Redmi 2 (4.7 Inch) but both displays are very fine in terms of quality. Yuphoria has additionally included Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of the display which gives it an edge over Redmi 2 in terms of raw hardware. In pracrice, we found Xiaomi Redmi 2 display to have better colors and overall quality.
Both of these smartphones use 64 bit Snapdragon 410 chipset, but Yuphoria has a clear advantage in processing department with double 2 GB RAM. Besides, since Yuphoria is running lighter Cyanogen 12 OS as compared to MIUI 6, you can expect better performance and durability in the long run.
Camera and Internal Storage
On paper, both Yuphoria and Redmi 2 have similar rear camera configuration. Both sport an 8 MP rear shooter with wide aperture lens. Yuphoria however, benefits from a more detailed 5 MP (VS 1.6 MP) wide angle selfie shooter on the front. CyanogenMod’s camera interface is not up to the mark and we liked Redmi 2 camera to be a better performer.
Internal storage has been doubled to 16 GB in Yuphoria, which is again a major advantage over Redmi 2 which has 8 GB expandable internal storage without option for installing apps on SD card.

Battery and Other Features
The battery capacity is also very similar for both of these devices, and both smartphones offer removable battery. You can expect similar backup from both smartphones under normal usage.
The MIUI 6 ROM in Redmi 2 is more vibrant with better community supports, ample themes and customization option, although it is based on Android 4.4 KitKat. Yureka also includes light and efficient Cyanogen 12 OS which is closer to Stock lollipop Rom in terms of design, but is integrated with powerful customization options which work well. Redmi 2 additionally features USB OTG support.
Conclusion
Yuphoria includes a metal side frame, but feels chunkier than Xiaomi Redmi 2, which in our opinion is a good looking smartphone. Yuphoria has better hardware specifications and will have performance advantages for advanced Android users and Xiaomi has a better display and better camera, but for basic users, neither of the two will be disappointing. Maybe it’s time Xiaomi brings in its 2GB RAM variant of Redmi 2 for about similar price.
