Other smartphones with OLED displays seem to be exhibiting the Jelly Scrolling effect now. Some Moto Z2 Force users have reported the Jelly scrolling effect on their smartphones. Jelly effect refers to the expansion and distortion of texts and images while scrolling through a list on a phone.

This effect gained prominence when it was reported on the OnePlus 5. The reason for Jelly scrolling on the Moto Z2 Force seems to be the same as on the OnePlus 5. XDA developer Daniel Marchena pointed out that the display on the Moto Z2 Force refreshes in opposite direction, which means it is mounted upside down.

About Jelly Scrolling Effect

Jelly Scrolling Effect refers to the warping and stretching of text and images on a smartphone. Inverted display or upside-down mounted displays are said to be the reason for this effect on certain handsets.

Earlier in June, users of the OnePlus 5 reported the Jelly Scrolling effect on some devices. Now the users of the Moto Z2 Force are reporting similar issue. In a video by XDA developer Daniel Marchena, the Jelly scrolling, as well as inverted refreshing of the Moto Z2 Force’s display, can be seen.

The issue is most prominently seen while scrolling through the App Drawer, Settings menu, and Social Media apps and sites. Also, Moto phones are reported to have the same issues in the past. The teardown of Moto Z2 Force shows the upside-down mounted display, which is causing the Jelly Scrolling Effect.
