Xiaomi is looking for beta testers for the Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 8.0 Oreo update

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is now looking for Beta Testers for their Stock Android offering, the Xiaomi Mi A1. Launched back in September, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is now ready for Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update, and testers are needed for the same.

Launched with Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box, the Xiaomi Mi A1 will soon get the Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update. Now, Xiaomi has announced on their forum that they need beta testers for the Oreo update. You can become a Xiaomi Beta Tester in a few easy steps.

The registrations for Mi A1 users are open until December 11, 9:29 PM IST. To register, you have to download the Xiaomi MIUI forum app from Google Play Store. Once downloaded, go to the ‘Recruitment’ section on the app’s homepage.

Provide your IMEI number in the app and if your application is selected, you will get an update to Android 8.0 Oreo beta on your Mi A1 handset. The company is giving preference to active forum users. Before you enroll for Beta testing, be mindful that Beta builds are unstable and prone to occasional bugs and crashes.


Xiaomi Mi A1 Specifications

To recall, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is a stock Android phone from Xiaomi and runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box. The phone comes with the Android One Program and gets fast updates.

The device features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display bearing full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. In terms of optics, the phone boasts dual 12 MP cameras (26mm, f/2.2; 50mm, f/2.6) with 2x optical zoom and dual LED flash. A 5MP front-facing camera is there for selfies and video calling.

In terms of hardware, the Mi A1 is packing a Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. This combination is backed by 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also expandable storage option up to 128GB using a microSD card.

Running Android 7.1.2 Nougat, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo if you enroll for beta testing. The phone packs a 3,080mAh battery and is available at a price of Rs. 14,999 on mi.com
