Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 9.5 update with new notification shade, quick replies

Xiaomi has released a new update to the MIUI 9 with the version MIUI 9.5 and rolled out the stable version of it to some of the Xiaomi smartphones. The ROM is still based on the Android 7.1 Nougat, and there has been no upgrade to the Android version. The major improvement is in the user interface, specifically in the notification shade. Xiaomi has improved a lot of things in the user interface of the ROM.

Xiaomi has released the full changelog for the new MIUI 9.5 update and the ROM is available to download for some devices. The ROM can be flashed via recovery or via fastboot mode on the Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S/ 3S Prime. The download links for the ROM are provided for all three smartphones.

Here are the highlights of the changelog which Xiaomi has released for the MIUI 9.5 update.

Fixes: Dual apps Whatsapp issue, home screen slow down, automatic updates turned off, the system launched wasn’t responding, UI adjustments for RTL, incorrect battery level.


System: new format for floating notifications in landscape mode, settings force close is fixed and earphones volume change is fixed.

Contacts: quick dial by tapping and holding a button on the dial pad

Gallery: Can crop scrolling screenshots now, auto download from Mi Cloud, can choose a custom cover for albums and optimized local storage.

Mi Apps: new recommendations for new users and UI is highly enhanced.

Mi Wallet: Better page guide in Accessibility mode.

Xiaomi also has confirmed the rollout of this new MIUI 9.5 update via a tweet which shows that the list of the smartphones getting this update. If you haven’t got the update on your smartphone which is on the list then you can update your smartphone manually by flashing the ROM via recovery or fastboot, download links are provided above.

Late March: Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm version), Redmi Note 4(Qualcomm version)/ Redmi Note 4X, Mi Max, Mi Max PrimeRedmi 3S, Redmi 4ARedmi 4 Prime, and Redmi Note 4 (MediaTek version).

Early April: Redmi Note 5A/Redmi Y1Redmi Y1 LiteRedmi 5ARedmi 5Redmi 5 PlusRedmi Note 5Mi Max 2, Mi 5, Mi 6, Redmi 4X, and Mi MIX 2.

Mid-April: Mi 5s, Mi Note 2, Mi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 3, Redmi 4, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi MIX, and Mi 5s Plus.
