Xolo has announced its new smartphone in Q series – The Xolo Q1020, which flaunts a wooden frame at a nominal price of 11,499 INR. Apart from the wooden aesthetics, Xolo has also paid due attention to the imaging hardware in this one.

Xolo Q1020 employs an IPS LCD display, 5 Inches in size and with 1280 x 720 pixels lined across it. This amounts to 294 pixels per inches which is good enough. Gorilla Glass 3 is also layered on top for some extra protection.

At the heart of the device is present the same MT6582 quad core SoC ticking at 1.3 GHz. The quad core processor is backed by 1 GB RAM and 8 GB native storage. The chipset is quite standard one and comparable to what you can find in Android one phones for almost half the price.

At the rear side, there is a 13 MP Camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 5p lens, large 1.1 micrometer pixel size and wide f/2.2 aperture. This sounds like a recipe for good low light performance. It would be interesting to see how well MT6582 handles this hardware. A 2 MP front camera is also present for selfies.

Software is Android 4.4 KitKat and includes lock screen gestures and Hotknot file transfer technology. Inside its 8.7 mm thick body, Xolo Q1020 houses a 2100 mAh battery. Other features include 3G , WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, MicroSD slot and GPS.

Xolo Q1020 differentiates itself with its lofty wooden frame and high ranking imaging hardware. We like Xolo’s innovative approach to make its mark in intensely competitive budget Android market.
