Today HCL launched a tablet meant for kids, HCL ME Champ in India, Following Swipe Junior tablet which was released yesterday. The Swipe Junior Tablet comes with a playful body design which also restricts it strictly for kids while the HCL ME Champ has got Kids specific features on the Inside. Let’s compare these tablets against each other to help you decide which one is better suited for your kids!
Display and Processor
HCL ME Champ features a WVGA 800 X 480 pixel resolution on a 7 inch Display(133 ppi) which is quite less considering the market trends. While reading the text won’t be as crisp and you would notice resolved pixels. Swipe Junior comes with more pixels, 1024 x 600, spread across the same 7 inch Display screen, thus giving you better clarity. Thus this will give you better performance while gaming.
The HCl ME Champ comes with 1 GHz Single core Cortex A9 processor with Mali 400 GPU. The RAM capacity is 1 GB which will again add to the performance. The Swipe junior tablet is also powered by a 1 GHz processor whose make or architecture details have not been specified. The humble processor is backed by 512 MB of RAM which implies we can expect HCL ME Champ to perform better.
Kids love to play games and they know more in this department than what parents give them credit for. Better processing power is a significant advantage of HCL ME Champ.
Camera and Internal Storage
camera specifications take a backseat when we talk about large screen devices like tablets. Both of these tablets can be rated similar in this department as both feature the same MP count on both the cameras. The primary camera is of 2 MP and the secondary camera is of 0.3 MP for video calling of self portraits.
The Swipe Junior tablet comes with 4 GB of internal memory which will also be loaded with pre loaded Apps for gaming, entertainment and education. This won’t leave much room for downloading more apps on to the device. The HCL ME Champ also comes with lots of preloaded content but the internal storage is 8 GB which will leave sufficient room for other apps. You can extend the storage to 32 GB in both of these tablets using a microSD card.
Battery and Features
The Battery capacity of both these tablets is similar and both are expected to give you similar battery backup. HCL ME Champ sports a 3100 mAh battery where as Swipe Junior comes with slightly smaller 3000 mAh battery. You are expected to get around 4 to 5 hours of screen time with these tablets.
Swipe junior comes with Food grade plastic body which makes it fit for toddlers and is also comes with a shock proof coating encasing. This makes it fit for kids which we know are more prone to drop their toys.
