Gionee Elife E7 VS Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Comparison Overview

Sony had launched its mid range phablet, the Xperia T2 Ultra in India about a month ago for Rs 25,990 (now available for around Rs 24,000) and it is going up against the Gionee Elife E7 these days which has its price starting from Rs 26,999. The two phablets are constantly fighting for the attention of the ones looking for a big screen device with a good set of specifications. Let us compare the two to find out as to which one’s better.

Display and Processor

The display unit of the Xperia T2 Ultra is a 6 inch  TRILUMINOS Display with X-Reality picture engine for mobile which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is pretty crisp and clear and even though the resolution is 720p, it makes up for that with good colour reproduction.

The Elife E7 on the other hand has a smaller 5.5 inch IPS screen with OGS technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and accounts for a way better screen when compared to the Xperia T2 Ultra. 5.5 inches is good enough for us and the Elife E7 surely accounts for a better device in this range.

Under the hood of the Elife E7 is a 2 2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor coupled with an Adreno 330 GPU. On the other hand, the Xperia T2 Ultra gets a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 processor and it teams up with an Adreno 305 GPU. The former comes across as a way better performer than the latter.

Camera and Internal Storage

The camera unit of the Xperia T2 Ultra as well as the Elife E7 go quite close to each other as far as the rear camera is concerned. The Xperia T2 Ultra has a 13MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor and LED flash whereas on the other hand, the Elife E7 comes with a 16MP rear camera, LED flash, a 1/2.3″ 1.34 µm sensor and Sapphire Lens to ensure that you get crystal clear images and it produces slightly better results than the Sony phablet.

The internal storage of Xperia T2 Ultra is 8GB but it can be expanded by another 32GB with the help of a microSD card. The Elife E7 however misses out on a microSD card slot option as it comes in two variants with internal storage capacities of 16GB and 32GB. Somehow more internal storage capacity makes a lot more sense and we believe that the Elife E7 does the trick for us in this regard.

Battery and Other Features

The Xperia T2 Ultra gets a 3,000 mAh battery with STAMINA mode that will easily last you about a day on moderate usage but the Elife E7’s 2,500 mAh battery won’t do that. The Elife E7 comes with a pretty heavy set of specs which the 2,500 mAh unit won’t be able to power for more than three fourths of a day.

The Xperia T2 Ultra runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Elife E7 runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Elife E7 has a better chance of getting an upgrade in future as it is the Gionee flagship and the Xperia T2 Ultra might or might not get a software upgrade in future.

Conclusion

Both the smartphones are pretty good performers and it will surely boil down to the brand image and after sales service as well. Sony has a wider network but the Elife E7 has a set of top of the line specs that leave behind the Xperia T2 Ultra by a wide margin. If you can let go of the fact that it is a Gionee device, the Eife E7 is the right bet for you.
