Asus announced a new tablet called Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) on Wednesday. Notably, this tablet is the first one in the lineup to be fueled by Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and it supports 4G LTE connectivity as well. The device is priced at $250 (approx. Rs 15,700), but it is currently announced only for the Taiwanese market and there is no word regarding its global rollout.
On the specifications front, the Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) boasts of a 7 inch IPS display with HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The screen is a 10 finger multi-touch panel with an anti-fingerprint coating to resist the fingerprint smudges on it. A quad core Intel Atom Z3530 processor ticking at 1.3 GHz clock speed powers the smartphone from within. This processor is aided by a PowerVR Series 6 – G6430 graphics card and 2 GB of RAM for efficient graphic handling and multitasking.
The Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) comes in two internal storage options – 8 GB and 16 GB and both can be expanded externally by another 64 GB using a micro SD card. For imaging, the tablet features a 5 MP main camera with auto focus and support for Full HD 1080p video recording. Also, there is a 2 MP front facing selfie snapper with the ability to record HD 720 videos.
Connectivity wise, the Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) comes packed with 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and GLONASS. Keeping things juiced up is a 3,950 mAh battery that can render up to 12 hours of video playback, 22.5 hours of talk time on 3G usage and 397 hours of standby time to the device.
Like the other Asus offerings, the Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) also comes with the SonicMaster technology incorporated in the front facing dual speakers to enhance the audio output.
