Honor launched the Honor 5X in the last week of January this year, which comes with great specs and a premium metal body at an affordable price. Just a week before its launch, another Chinese company called LeEco launched Le 1s, which also had similar specs, a fingerprint sensor and a metal body. Today, we are putting both the smartphones together to test which one of them rules the charts. We feel that the Le 1S has a lot of common attributes in comparison with the Honor 5X, even though the 5X is priced Rs. 2000 more than the Le 1S.

Design & Display
Both the smartphones boast of metal build and premium finish. Honor 5X has a brushed finish at the back and the Le 1S has matte finish on the back. Both have curved edges which make them handy and also feel solid. As far as dimensions are concerned, both have almost the same size but Honor 5X is approx 2 mm wider and 1.9 mm thicker than Le 1S. Looking at the bulk, Honor 5X weighs just 158 grams where the thin and handy Le 1s weighs 169 grams.
Honor 5X and Le 1S come with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display panel with full HD (1080 x 1920 pixel) resolution and a pixel density of 401 ppi. It makes the display on both the smartphone almost the same, but LeEco has revealed that the Le 1S comes with a Floating Glass 2.0 technology and it also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Processor, RAM and Storage
Performance is the core factor that defines any smartphone’s accomplishments. This is something that can cover up all the drawbacks in the smartphone and satisfies the consumers.
Honor 5X comes with a 64-Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon Octa-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. Where the Le 1S packs a 2.2 GHz 64-Bit Octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor with 3 GB Ram and PowerVR G6200 GPU.
The Le 1S has around 83% faster CPU than the Honor 5X on paper and 1GB of extra RAM to run multiple applications at the same time. Le 1S looks a bit stronger on paper but the performance of both the smartphones was almost the same in real life, in fact the Honor 5X was performing better at gaming.
The LeEco Le 1S packs 32 GB of in built memory where the Honor 5X comes only with 16 GB. But the folks at Honor have taken a smarter move by putting a microSD expansion slot which allows up to 128 GB of cards, and sadly Le 1S does not offer this option.
Camera
On the camera front, Huawei Honor 5X and LeEco Le 1s again offer a similar kind of specs on paper. Both the cameras perform exceptionally well looking at the prices. Le 1s has a 13 MP rear camera with ISOCELL 5P Lens, Blue Glass IR filter, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. Honor 5X has a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, dual-tone LED flash and SmartImage processor.
When we tested the camera for taking pictures, the pictures from the Honor 5X were much better when compared to the Le 1S. The pictures turned out to be rich in detail and more close to natural. Both have 5 MP cameras on front, and the results were almost identical from both of them. The Honor 5X is capable of recording 1080p video whereas the Le 1S can record 2160p videos. Battery & Fingerprint Sensor
Honor 5X offers a 3,000 mAh battery and has Quick Charge 3.0 technology, which charges the device from 0-50 % in just 30 minutes. Le 1S also has an impressive 3,000 mAh battery with quick charge support that is claimed to offer 3.5 hours of talk time with just 5 minutes of charge. Both the phones last throughout a day with normal usage and offer a number of power saving modes.
Another feature worth mentioning is that the Le 1s supports USB Type-C charger and Honor 5X comes with the old micro USB.
Fingerprint sensors are another common feature on both the phones, and they are placed at the back. Le 1S offers the world’s first mirror-surfaced fingerprint sensor which has nothing special except the reflective surface. Accuracy and speed on both the fingerprint sensors was almost the same (8 out of 10 times).
Pricing & Availability
The Honor 5X is available for INR 12,999 only for the 16 GB model of the phone, whereas the LeEco Le 1S is available for INR 10,999. The Le 1S is available exclusively on Flipkart whereas the 5X is sold on Amazon and Flipkart both.
Conclusion
Looking at all the departments, both the smartphones offer compelling features for the price. Both share almost the same specs, a premium build quality and design. It is a tough call to choose any one of them and call it better among the two, but if we look at the price, the Le 1S costs lesser and offers the same package. But we cannot ignore the fact that Honor has been consistent with its smartphones in the past and has maintained a trust with its consumers, which is a fair factor to bargain when it comes to a company which has launched its first smartphone in the country.
