Samsung Galaxy Fold will come to India, confirms CEO

Samsung Galaxy Fold, the first foldable phone from the company will be launched in India, confirms DJ Koh, CEO- Samsung Electronics, Mobile Communications Division.

The Galaxy Fold was showcased last month at the company’s Unpacked event in San Francisco. The Galaxy Fold is Samsung‘s most premium device with a price tag of $1,980 and it will go on sale starting April 26. There is no word on India availability of this phone but it will surely come here.

Indian market is, I clearly said, most important market – not only investment and everything, my long-term commitment is towards the market. In this market, why will I not deliver my newest technology innovation? Yes, I will do,” said, DJ Koh.

Galaxy Fold Specifications

The Galaxy Fold sports two displays- one is 4.58-inch HD+ (1960×840 pixels) screen with 21:9 aspect ratio and another is a foldable 7.3-inch QHD+ (2152×1536 pixels) Infinity Flex display to give a tablet-like experience.


The Galaxy Fold is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie with custom UI and offers features like App Continuity and three-app multitasking.

In terms of camera, the Galaxy Fold has a total of six cameras. There is a 10MP camera placed above the external camera in the folded state. While in the unfolded state, it sports a 10MP+8MP dual camera setup on the front and there is a triple camera setup on the back that comprises a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor.

The device packs two batteries offering a combined capacity of 4,380mAh. It also supports wireless and reverse wireless charging as well. It sports AKG-tuned stereo speakers and supports LTE and 5G networks.

Galaxy Fold Expected Price in India

Samsung Galaxy Fold price has been set at $1,980. However, the device could arrive in India at over $2,000 which translates roughly to Rs. 1,40,000. The pre-orders will start from April 26, so we can expect the Galaxy Fold launch in India around that timeline.
