To recall, Qualcomm announced three new Snapdragon processors- Snapdragon 665, Snapdragon 730, and Snapdragon 730G earlier this month. So, we expect that Xiaomi’s new phone which is most probably Mi A3 will come with the Snapdragon 730 chipset.
Mi A3 Specifications, Features
The Android One phones from Xiaomi are usually the Mi ‘X’ series of smartphones. Last year’s Mi A2 was the rebranded Mi 6X with a stock Android UI.
However, this year Xiaomi launched the Mi CC9 and it will become the Mi A3. Based on that, let’s check out the expected specs, features, and price of Mi A3 in India.
Mi A3 Build Quality and Display
As far as build quality is concerned, the Mi A3 could offer a 3D gradient glass back finish with multi-color LED light similar to the Mi CC9. The device may be 8.67mm thick and it may weigh 179g.
Xiaomi offered an AMOLED display on the Mi CC9. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. So, the Mi A3 may also sport a same 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio i.e. a dot notch display. It could also have Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Mi A3 Processor
For the chipset, Xiaomi is rumored to use the Snapdragon 730 chipset for Mi A3, unlike the Snapdragon 710 in CC9. The SD 730 is a new chipset from Qualcomm which is based on the 8nm process. Xioami has already offered the same in Redmi K20. The Mi A3 is expected to get an SD 675.
Mi A3 Cameras
Cameras are always an important area for Xiaomi’s A series. Since the Mi CC9 series gets a triple camera system so we expect the same for the Mi A3. The Mi A3 could come with the same 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor just like the CC9. There could be an 8MP 118° ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor.
There is a 32MP selfie camera on CC9, so Xiaomi could also use a 32MP selfie on the Mi A3 as well.
Mi A3 Battery and Other Features
The Mi A3 is expected to pack a 4,030 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging. It could also come with an 18W fast charger in the box.
Since it would a part of the Android One program so it would run stock Android 9 Pie and later will be upgradable to Android Q as well. For connectivity, it would come with a USB Type C port and other usual options.
Mi A3 India Launch Date, Price, Availability
If we talk about the launch timeline, since they are currently busy with Redmi K20 series in India, they might push the launch of Mi A3 for one month at least. So, Xiaomi will probably launch the Mi A3 in India around mid-August.
Coming to the pricing, the Mi CC9 price starts at 1799 yuan (Rs. 18,000 roughly) for the 6GB/64GB version. So the Mi A3 could also carry a starting price tag of Rs 17,999 in India. If Xiaomi also launches the Mi A3 Lite, it should come at around Rs 13,000.
The Mi A3 is expected to available for purchase in India from last week of August 2019.
