Xiaomi has launched its new Redmi K20 series smartphones in India. The company has two phones in the portfolio and the Redmi K20 is a mid-range phone. It comes with features like AMOLED display with pop-up camera, triple cameras with a 48MP sensor and much more.
Xiaomi‘s main competitor in India, Realme has also launched its Realme X smartphone in the country. This phone is also a mid-ranger with some similar features to Redmi K20. It also has an AMOLED screen with pop-up design and a 48MP sensor.
However, there are some differences in terms of camera specs as well as hardware. Redmi K20 price in India starts at Rs. 21,999 for the 6GB/64GB version, while Realme X starts at Rs. 16,999 for a 4GB/128GB version.
Let’s find out which of them will be a new king of mid-range phones.
Redmi K20 Vs Realme X
Design: Glass vs Polycarbonate
The Redmi K20 sports a premium glass back design with a new 3D gradient finish in a flame pattern. The back panel also sports triple rear camera setup aligned vertically. The device also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both sides.
At the front, it comes with slim bezels on each side with a small bottom chin. There’s also a fingerprint sensor under the screen.
While the Realme X comes with the polycarbonate back with a dual-tone finish that is also glossy with a mixture of colors. It sports a dual-camera setup aligned centrally on the back. At the front, it also has a pop-up selfie camera module placed at the top.

Display: Fullscreen AMOLED panels
The Redmi K20 comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with HDR support. The display comes without any notch and has very with slim bezels and offers good screen to body ratio. It is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
The Realme X has a slightly bigger 6.53-inch FHD+ AMOLED full-view display. This display also comes without any notch and offers a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio. It also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner and has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Processor: Snapdragon 730 Vs Snapdragon 710
The Redmi K20 features the Snapdragon 730 chipset. This is a new chipset from Qualcomm which is based on the 8nm process and has Kryo 470 cores clocked at up to 2.2 GHz.
The Realme X is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC. It is also a powerful chipset in the mid-range segment which is based on the 10nm process and has Kryo 360 cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz.
However, it is less powerful than SD 730. You can see the difference in AnTuTu scores above.

Rear Cameras: Triple vs Dual
Xiaomi has used a triple rear camera setup on Redmi K20. It includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor alongside a 13MP wide-angle camera and an 8MP telephoto camera.
The Realme X has a dual camera set up at the back. There is also a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Check out the samples below.

Software: MIUI vs ColorOS
This comes running on the Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. Interestingly, Xiaomi uses POCO launcher on Redmi K20. This brings app drawer and dark mode the device and UI looks better. There are some bloatware apps and ads are still there.
Realme X, on the other hand, comes with the company’s custom ColorOS on top of Android 9 Pie. The customized OS also comes with some unwanted bloatware as well as ads.

Battery and Others
With the Redmi K20, Xiaomi packs a 4,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Whereas the Realme X packs a 3,765mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging. Both phones come with a fast charger in the box.
Talking about connectivity, both the phones sport similar mostly features including the USB Type C port. However, there is no option for memory expansion in Redmi K20 and 64GB version buyers may face storage issue.
Winner: Tie in battery and Realme X in connectivity.
Price: Another Key Factor
The Redmi K20 price in India starts at Rs 21,999 in India and goes up to Rs. 23,999. Whereas the Realme X is priced at Rs. 16,999 in India for the base model and it goes up to Rs. 19,999. However, there is some difference in terms of RAM and storage.
Redmi offers 6GB/64GB base variant and Realme has 4GB/128GB base variant. The top variant of Redmi K20 is 6GB/128GB and Realme has 8GB/128GB top model. So, Realme offers more RAM and storage at a lesser price.
Winner: Realme X
As you have seen in the above comparison, Redmi K20 stands out in design, display, camera, and performance and Realme gives it stiff competition in each segment. If you can overlook the plastic build and slightly low powered hardware, you can go for Realme X and save yourself some money. However, if you are ready to spend a few extra bucks, you will get a good looking phone with the latest hardware, i.e. Redmi K20.
