Design and Build Quality

When comes to design and build quality Xiaomi is getting really serious and all their smartphones don’t look like their price range. Redmi 8 is no exception, it got a shiny back panel with the pattern going on when light falls on it. The frame is all plastic and the front go covered by a Gorilla Glass 5 panel.

Narzo 10A

The Narzo 10A from Realme is a regular looking smartphone with a single colored back panel with Realme text. The frame is all polycarbonate here too which is no exception and the frame is made from the same material. The front panel is covered with the Gorilla Glass for protection but it’s not the latest version like in Redmi 8.

Now comes to form factor and start with the thickness, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 is 9.4mm thick which is a bit higher number for a smartphone. Whereas the Narzo 10A from Realme is only 9mm thick which could make a difference when holding the phone in hands. The weight is a bit on the higher side on Narzo 10A wth 195 grams in comparison to Redmi 8 which weighs 188 grams.

Display: Bigger is Better

The display on the Narzo 10A is bigger than the one on the Redmi 8. The Narzo 10A comes with a 6.5 inches display whereas the Redmi 8 got a 6.22 inches display. The bezels are also thinner on the Narzo 10A in comparison to the Redmi 8’s display which has a bit thicker bezels and chin.

Apart from the display size, both the smartphone sports about the same kind of display. Both got an HD+ resolution with sub-300-pixel density. Both the smartphones come with a notch on the top of the display which seems a bit bigger on Redmi 8 in comparison to the one on Narzo 10A.

Performance: Helio G70 Vs SD 439

The Narzo 10A got an upper hand over the Redmi 8 again in the performance section with a better chipset. It got a Mediatek G70 processor which is a good processor overall and can handle almost everything without a stutter. You can also play games on this smartphone with medium graphics as well.

The Redmi 8 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 which is an entry-level processor. This processor is paired with up to 4GB of RAM and can handle almost everything you can throw at it. The games are one part where it can disappoint you a bit more than the Nazro 10A.

When comes to the operating system, both smartphones come with their proprietary skins over the latest Android version. The Narzo 10A comes with Realme UI based on Android 10 with a bunch of customizations. Whereas the Redmi 8 comes with MIUI 11 based on Android 9 out of the box, the Android 10 update is coming through.

Camera: Triple vs Dual Camera Setup

The Narzo 10A comes with a triple camera setup which is a bit surprising at this price range. The triple camera includes a 12MP main sensor with a 2MP depth sensor and a 2 MP macro sensor as well. On the front, it got a 5MP sensor for selfies and this camera can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.

This is one place where Xiaomi got an upper hand in this comparison. The Realme Narzo 10A comes with a 5000 mAh battery and a regular 10W charger which still uses that old school micro USB port. Whereas the Redmi 8 comes with a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support (fast charger not included in the box) which uses the USB Type C port on the device.
