Portronics Freedom 33 Wireless Charger Review: Best Under Rs. 2000?

Portronics has come up with a wireless charging solution for all your devices with wireless charging. The Freedom 33 wireless charging dock can charge your smartphone, smartwatch, and TWS at the same time. It comes with fast charging support for compatible smartphones up to 15 watts. We have got our hands on the charger, and here is a quick review of the Freedom 33 by Portronics.

Portronics Freedom 33 Wireless Charger Review

Where the wireless chargers usually start from Rs. 800 with a single charging coil, and for a 3 in 1 wireless charger, you need to shell out at least Rs. 3000. Portronics Freedom 33 Wireless charger does look interesting for those with a tight budget. To see how fair it stands out, today, we will be reviewing. So without any further ado, let’s get started.

Unboxing

Before diving into the review, first, let’s see what all you get in the package Portronics Freedom 33 Wireless Charger, which is one of those rare 3 in 1 wireless charger under Rs. 2,000.

  • The Freedom 33 Wireless Charger
  • A charging cable (Type-A to Type-C)
  • User manual
  • Warranty card

Design and Build Quality

The design of the Portronics Freedom 33 stands out from other all-in-one chargers. This charger takes less space on your desk, and every device just fits in perfectly. On the front, there is a stand-type wireless charger where you place your phone to begin charging. This stand extends from the top and becomes a smartwatch charger where you can put your watch on charge.

The base of the stand has a small wireless charging dock for supported TWS earphones like AirPods, Samsung Buds, OnePlus Buds Pro 2 (review), Nothing Ear (1), and more. This charging pad is right at the back of the unit, so you need to reach around to put your TWS on charge. It comes with a rubber surface so as to keep the TWS in position. And at the back of the base, there’s a Type C port to connect it to the wall adapter.

I expected to see a better quality material for the phone charger like the TWS charging base has, Portronics should work on this in the next model. The bottom of the charger has rubber pads, which add stability to the charger even when kept on a glossy surface. The overall design and build quality of the charger are pretty decent.

Performance

The Portronics Freedom 33 is claimed to provide 15-watt wireless charging to the smartphone with 70 to 80 percent efficiency. The input power is 30 watts max, and you can use any fast-charging adapter with this wireless charger.

The charger has a status light below the main pad. It glows in red color but is too dim to be visible in well-lit environments. The wireless charger for the phone is pretty fast and delivers fast wireless charging to supported smartphones.

I used two smartphones; Galaxy S21 and iPhone 14 Pro, for testing the charging speeds. The Galaxy S21 supports 15 Watt fast wireless charging, and it managed to charge up the phone from 49 to 80 percent in about 50 minutes. The iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, gained charge very slowly, as the battery level went up from 2 to 3 percent in 15 to 20 minutes.

The smartwatch charger integrated on the top only supports the Apple watch, not the Galaxy Watch, which is disappointing. The charging speed is also slower than the official apple charger. I managed to charge up the watch by 50 percent in about 1 hour and 33 minutes. The TWS charging works fine with decent charging speeds.

According to this data, the phone charging pad can charge up quickly, but in the case of iPhones, it is comparatively slower. The smartwatch charger is decent, but the slow charging speed can be observed here as well. Also, it only supports Apple watches and not Galaxy watches which is a disappointment.

Pros and Cons

After spending some with the Portronics Freedom 33, here are the quick Pros and Cons of it, to summarise my review.

Pros

  • Compact design
  • Good build quality
  • 3-in-1 wireless charging
  • Fast wireless charging for smartphones

Cons

  • No fast charging for iPhones
  • Only support Apple Watches
  • Slow watch charger

Final Verdict: Portronics Freedom 33 Wireless Charger

The Portronics Freedom 33 wireless charger is a good product only if you own the right combination of gadgets. It saves a lot of space and makes the desk clutter free by charging three devices at once. You can buy the Portronics Freedom 33 for around Rs. 1,300 through offline retailers near you which makes it one of those rare good wireless chargers for all your Wireless charging needs.
