The Moto G5 Plus and the Redmi Note 4 feature very similar specifications. Both the phones come with full HD displays with a small difference in the screen size. They’re both powered by the same Snapdragon 625 chipset. Both the phones come in 4GB RAM variants. However, the devil is in the other details like the OS, cameras, internal storage, battery and the price.

The Moto G5 Plus has the upper hand when it comes to the OS and cameras. It runs on almost stock Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and comes with a 12 MP camera that fared better than the Redmi Note 4’s 13 MP camera.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 4 takes the lead when it comes to the internal storage, battery and price. You can get up to 64GB internal storage with 4GB RAM on the Redmi Note 4, while the Moto G5 Plus comes with a max 32GB storage. The battery is also almost 35% bigger on the Redmi Note 4 – it comes with a 4100 mAh battery compared the Moto G5 Plus’ 3000 mAh battery.

Last but not the least, the pricing tilts the balance in favour of the Redmi Note 4 to a great extent. It starts at Rs. 9,999 for the 2GB + 32GB version, Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB + 32GB version and Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB + 64GB version. On the other hand, the Moto G5 Plus starts at Rs. 14,999 for the 3GB + 16GB version and goes up to Rs. 16,999 for the 4GB + 32GB version.

At the end of the day, your decision will involve what you value more – a stock Android interface with fast updates and a decent set of cameras, or more storage, bigger battery and a more affordable phone.
