New Moto G VS Micromax Canvas Nitro Comparison Review

Micromax has launched its much hyped Canvas Nitro (Full Review) smartphone which claims to revolutionize and democratize technology. The phone has been launched for 12,990 INR, which is similar to what the refreshed version of Moto G will cost you. Let’s take a look at how the specifications and hardware of both these devices compare against each other.

Display and Processor

Both of these devices have a 5 inch IPS LCD HD Display with good viewing angles and colors. However, the Moto G comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, which is a big advantage of Micromax Canvas Nitro. Quality wise, we find new Moto G a tad bit better.

While Moto G runs on 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core chipset with well optimized software and 1 GB RAM. Micromax Canvas Nitro on the other hand features 1.7 GHz True octa core chipset with MT6592 quad core chipset with 2 GB RAM. Both phones will give you good day to day performance. Canvas Nitro struggled with high end gaming in our full review, but both handsets are expected to give decent day to day performance.

Camera and Internal Storage

Micromax Canvas Nitro has a good 13 MP rear shooter coupled with a 5 MP front camera. The rear camera can record full HD videos. Moto G on the other hand features an 8 MP rear camera capable of HD video recording. Micromax has an edge here as well, the camera is better than what we have on Moto G.

Micromax Canvas Nitro has 8 GB internal storage while Moto G comes with double 16 GB internal storage. This is a big advantage as apps cannot be transferred to SD card. This will also be a limitation for gaming enthusiasts. Micromax Canvas Nitro doesn’t support USB OTG either.

Battery and Other Features

The battery capacity on Micromax Canvas Nitro is 2500 mAh which is bigger than 2070 mAh battery housed inside Moto G. The difference in backup isn’t expected to be much considering the chipset on both devices.

Both Micromax Canvas Nitro and Moto G are running almost stock Android Kitkat ROM , but Moto G is the one guaranteeing Android L update. Micromax has added several gesture supports and a new launcher with HTC Blinkfeed life feature as well. Another significant Moto G advantage is the presence of Dual frontal speaker for loud and clear audio experience.

Conclusion

Micromax Canvas Nitro is a well integrated smartphone but it is in for some tough competition from already existing big-guns. Lack of OTG support, Gorilla Glass 3 and Limited App storage refrain it from being the best option at this price point. Moto G takes care of some of these drawbacks  and comes with better build quality, while Canvas Nitro comes with slightly better imaging hardware. If Imaging hardware is the sole high rank priority, Micromax Canvas Nitro might be a better option, for everything else, you can’t go wrong with Moto G.
