Asus finally launched their Zenfone Max phone in the first week of January in India. The Zenfone Max is their battery champ device, that they claim will provide the maximum battery you can expect from a phone. The device comes with a 5000mAh so that is expected of the device. Anyway, let me share the camera review of the device here.

Asus Zenfone Max Camera Hardware
The Asus Zenfone Max comes with a 13MP primary camera, equipped with a dual-LED flash to support the primary camera in taking pictures. The secondary camera on the device is a 5MP shooter, which is decent enough for taking pictures or for video calling.

The primary camera features a f/2.0 aperture lens, and the secondary camera features also features a f/2.0 aperture lens. This aperture on the phone camera lets it take some decent pictures, even in certain low lighting conditions.
Asus Zenfone Max Camera Software
The camera software on the Asus Zenfone Max is a decent one. It features a shutter button in the center at the bottom, a video recording button just to the left of it, a gallery toggle on the extreme right and a mode button on the extreme left.
Diving into the settings of the Camera app, you’ll find some common adjustments like White Balance, ISO and exposure for the still photography. For video recording, you get options related to the quality of the video that you want to produce.

This phone features a lot of modes, something that recently smartphones are trying to skip. In the default camera app, you’ll find around 14 modes for taking pictures in. These modes range from Low light to bright light, miniature photography to super resolution and what not!

Asus Zenfone Max Camera Samples
During our testing with the Asus Zenfone Max, we were able to take a lot of pictures. It did produce some decent shots during our testing and did not disappoint us.
Front Camera Samples
As the front camera on the device is 5MP, you can not expect high-resolution pictures from the camera. Nonetheless, the camera produced good shots with the front facing camera.
Rear Camera Samples
The rear camera measures in at 13MP, and hence it has scope for better images. We tested the phone in artificial lighting, natural lighting and low lighting conditions. Our findings are listed below.
Artificial Light
In artificial lighting, the camera did not produce that great images and we could see the camera stutter a bit while focusing on the objects placed there.
Natural Light
In natural lighting, the camera produced some amazing shots. It worked really well, producing some high-quality shots, without any disappointment to us.
Low Light
In low lighting condition, the phone did produce decent images, that we can say are worthy for a phone of this price range.
Asus Zenfone Max Camera Verdict
All in all, the Asus Zenfone Max is a good camera phone, producing some good pictures in natural lighting and even with the front facing camera. The only point we found it to lag was when focusing on objects in artificial or extremely low lighting conditions.
